These are the foundations of who we are and what we do.

Hard work.   Our beginnings were simple... a young Dutch couple moved west from Iowa to the Central Valley of California in 1937 with hopes of a happy life focusing on family, farm, and God.  Dick and Ann Boersma were hard working people who wanted to provide a good life for their kids.

Dick farmed several different types of crops, and started growing almond trees almost by accident.  A local nursery had a sale on overstocked almond trees, so he thought he'd give it a try.  One of the first in the valley, Dick soon discovered that our fertile ground and warm climate were perfect for these trees and this became his primary crop.

Quality.   Boersma almonds have become well known for their quality.  People travel to our farm year after year, from all over the country, to purchase our almonds.  It is now our desire to bring these same high quality nuts directly to you and your family.  Our almonds are always handpicked prior to packaging, and because we grow them ourselves, we will always provide you with THIS YEAR'S crop.

Family.   In 1963, Dick was joined in farming by his two sons.  In time, Dick's original ranch evolved into Boersma Bros. Inc., which now has grown to include many ranches near the Ripon, CA area.  Dick passed away in 2002, but his sons still work on the ranch and are now joined by their sons.

4th Generation Farms is a brand new venture for Arvin and his son Brent, birthed out of over 50 years of family farming. 

Why 4th Generation?  Because 10 year old Caleb, Brent's son (Dick's great-grandson) has already developed a love for the land and the trees and suggested that the name should reflect his generation too.

Faith.   Brent recently joined his dad on the farm after almost 15 years in ministry.  Just as he felt called to serve God within the church, he now feels called to return to his roots and work with his family.  Brent and Arvin, their wives and children all believe that God has blessed them and they desire to be a blessing to others.

Giving Back.   Our business believes in our community and in supporting local efforts to improve peoples' lives. 4th Generation Farms is committed to giving back to our community.
